DMing the World Press and Menagerie Press Partnership
DMing the World Press has partnered with Menagerie Press to bring their setting, Xenosalvage, to life as a fully compatible DarkSpace campaign setting. We have worked alongside them to complete the development they had started and to bring in the same “simple, yet elegant” sci-fi you have come to expect from DarkSpace.
Xenosalvage is a TTRPG campaign setting that is compatible with DarkSpace, a sci-fi rules hack for Shadowdark RPG. After a century, the alien invaders have finally been defeated and driven away. Now, the remnants of Terra, what was once Earth, must rebuild and prepare for the retaliation that is sure to come. To do this, xenosalvagers crawl through deadly alien ruins and xenobeast-infested crashed UFOs in search of precious alien artifacts that might give the people of Terra an edge on their survival. (NOTE: Xenosalvage requires Shadowdark to play; DarkSpace is recommended but not required.)
The timing of this partnership could not have been better. Though Menagerie Press publishes it, both Derek and Than have contributed to this, making it as close to an official campaign setting as we’ll get for a little while.
Many of the new rules found in Xenosalvage will be further developed in the DarkSpace expanded edition due out later this year. These include:
Full cyberpunk-style hacking rules
Psychic power listings (for easy Triad use)
Bio-formula creation and addiction rules
andVehicles (including chase mechanics)
There will also be new gear, new alien tech artifacts, and over 20 new denizens. Plus all the random tables and carousing you’ve come to expect from a Shadowdark game.
We have had a lot of fun fleshing this world out and can’t wait for you all to get your hands on it.
Look for Xenosalvage in digital PDF format on DriveThruRPG at the end of September, with POD to come soon after.
